I'm madelyne Robertson, m. Ed, the tutor
I provide in-home tutoring services to students in PreK-5th grade in the Virginia Beach and Pungo area.
About Us
Dedicated Educators
We desire to advocate for children and families. We want your child to feel empowered and supported in their education. We know first-hand how difficult and confusing the public school system can be, and additional supports are often needed regardless of where your child attends school. We want to be a resource and a friend. Madelyne Robertson is a retired special educator; she's able to pursue her passion of working with children and families through Let's Grow's Tutoring Services. Madelyne works with children entering PreK-5th grade in the Virginia Beach area with their academic skills, executive functioning, and social growth on a weekly schedule that works for each family.
Individualized Curriculum
Each child is different and each student has their own story. Everyone has their place in this world and deserves to be celebrated for both how far they've come and where they have yet to go. No matter on which level your child is today, we will help them grow. One of the most important components of learning is connection. While Madelyne focuses on building a relationship founded on trust, she utilizes age appropriate, data based interventions to move students from their starting baseline performance closer to their goals.
Mental Health Focused
Successful learning relies heavily on your child’s emotional state. It is nearly impossible to learn when you’re frustrated, disheartened, or hopeless. Building self esteem and confidence are at the core of Let’s Grow Tutoring’s approach. Part of growth involves taking chances and risk; this happens when we feel safe and connected. The last few years have provided an environment where many of us could've used some more safety and connection. Madelyne makes it a priority to connect with your child in order to build their confidence and academic skills.

Our standard tutoring fees are between $40 and $60 per hour depending on age and content. If you have questions about what it would cost for your child to be tutored, please ask! If Madelyne is coming to your house, $5 will be added to the standard tutoring fee.
Let's Grow's focus is on student success. There are a variety of factors that contribute to our child's growth and learning. If your child has an IEP or a 504, Madelyne is able to provide 1:1 sit downs with parents to answer any questions and explain the document in full, without the confusing jargon. Madelyne is able to make recommendations as to what accommodations and goals she'd expect on your child's IEP. Our goals at Let's Grow are to see students thrive and establish a supportive environment around them while they do! IEP and 504 review services are also available.
Honestly, most families prefer Madelyne tutors in their home. Madelyne has an office in their family home with a tutoring station. Let's Grow has a few students that prefer to work in the quiet of Madelyne's home due to sibling distractions or parents running errands, but most of the time Madelyne is asked to come to your home.
Yes, for now we are located in the Courthouse area within Virginia Beach. We are able to cover most zip codes in Virginia Beach, but please include it when requesting a meeting so we can let you know if and when we would be able to add you to the schedule.
Let's Grow's Tutor, Madelyne, received her Bachelors Degree from Penn State with a major in Early Childhood Education in 2017 and graduated with her Masters Degree from Penn State University with a focus in Special Education in 2018 . She immediately started working as a 5th grade special educator in Pennsylvania until she moved to San Diego where she worked for two years with TK-4th grade students as their special education teacher. When Madelyne arrived in Virginia Beach, she worked with 4th grade students as a special education teacher during Covid and hybrid instruction. Madelyne continues to educate herself with evidence based methods and will continue being a life long learner alongside her students.
